So we 1-2-3 and we have a chore chart (which I kinda stink at keeping up with but resolve to do better)and since Nicholas (especially) has a hard time getting motivated to get ready in the am, we do colors (like at school) for his getting ready. And for getting ready I have to implement a timer (20 minutes to eat, 15 to get dresses, 5 to brush teeth) and then it's shoes, coat and gloves and out the door. For him the timer works like a champ.

That's what we do. It works.Kristi Bordovskyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08015856851823483281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7318552902195761043.post-623760404430864512011-01-18T14:32:10.579-05:002011-01-18T14:32:10.579-05:00Sasmita, I appreciate your opinion, but I have fou...Sasmita, I appreciate your opinion, but I have four children, ages 3 - 12 1/2 and can tell you that they understand when a consequence is given. I am always very clear with cause and effect. Each age requires different methods but I can assure you that the children understand, to varying degrees, that the "punishment" is the consequence of their choice of behavior.

I rarely have to use the consequences because the boys know the rules and are respectful of one another and of my husband and me.BeenThereDoneThatMom.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12694066924455292755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7318552902195761043.post-20125937216308489512011-01-18T14:25:38.002-05:002011-01-18T14:25:38.002-05:00Erin, I think kids don't analyse/understand pu...Erin, I think kids don't analyse/understand punishment till they grow up. So, just sweet words can do... I don't have kids, but managed my sister's for long time. This what I feel :)Sasmitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10020201873749280876noreply@blogger.com
